Skills are developed and learned in working practices and academia, and if a student adopts a skill appropriately in a particular sector, he or she becomes an expert. In universities, students learn some essential skills at the beginning of their degree that help them later in their personal, career and professional opportunities. These are various skills which support students in thinking creatively, solving complicated problems and communicating successfully in higher education. To give concise knowledge on the knowledge required for success in college, the paper carries out a brief analysis of three skills Self-organization, Note-taking and Teamwork. 

Skill Analysis

Study skills are one of the essential academic tools, and every learner has a different set of skills; effective usage of these skills can help observe hidden talents (Blake 2019).

Self-organization is an important skill required to succeed in university controls in selecting a successful path by proving an individual's abilities to be self-sufficient and independent. As Blake (2019, p. 2942) described, self-organizations support team members in handling their actions as it offers them more freedom than other employees. Teams with self-organizing skills have the benefits of self-management and collaboration that supports in reducing members’ turnover and increases productivity, retention and engagement with the institute’s visions.

In the past, I used this skill in active experimentation of the approaches and constant obtainment as well as adjustments of the lessons from the failures. I have recently been using this skill as a creative add-on that may inspire individuals and the workforce. Future learning from multiple sources is expected to help me understand the proper meaning of the works and the primary aim of self-organization that can be enhanced into self-actualization (Papangelis and Vassilakis 2020)

In conclusion, self-organization can elevate an individual for fulfilment and achievement.

Skills like Note Taking enable a person to pay attention and help him or her focus on the class and learn. Batur (2021, p. 25) said that active engagement with the topic, first listening and then summarising via note-taking, support a person in understanding and remembering the information in future. While taking notes, it is essential to record and identify significant ideas, facts, and concepts from the lectures related to the course. 

Previously this skill helped in keeping study records, mainly in science and math-related subjects. It has recently helped me review the notes regularly and use them to make up sample questions or turn them into digital flashcards. This skill can be developed to keep me alert, accountable and attentive in future based on the learning in the classroom (Kannan 2019).

It is the ability to take records said into discussion or lecture that can be used for reviewing and studying in future.

Research says that Teamwork is the collaborative skill of problem-solving that leads towards better outcomes. Fox et al. (2018, p. 128) noted that working in a team encourages individual growth, reduces stress, increases job satisfaction, and enables the mates to meet the projected goals quickly. Self-organization is essential for teamwork as it increases efficiency and minimum time investment in any project, and maximum time investment into solving issues and completing the work.

Previously, this skill helped me take calculated risks as I know I have team support. Now a day, this skill supports me in sharing responsibilities and ideas; in other words, reduces tension among others, and they become meticulous and encouraged in the course of completing the tasks. In coming future, I will work on the skill by strengthening my communication for opening and discussing responsibilities, deadlines and expectations (Marasi 2019).

Lastly, in teamwork, responsibility is divided among team members, which gets it done quicker, making the entire task operate more successfully.

Conclusion

Skills are mainly considered the currency in both working and student life, the more skills a person has, the more he or she is valuable as an employee or a student. The above discussion focused on knowledge of self-organization, note-taking and teamwork skills to achieve success in university. While self-organization is the procedure for achieving any goal by identifying the most appropriate path, teamwork and note-taking skills comprise resources, skills acknowledgement and knowledge possessed by the individuals. For developing these skills, it is recommended to work on the sectors like communication, self-actualization and being selective and identifying significant ideas over 4 months (Refer to my SMART Goals).
