The Principles provided that the older people in the public eye should have freedom, the capacity to partake in the public arena, approach care, be qualified for self-satisfaction and the full poise of life among different rights. Adopting healthy habits and practices, remaining engaged with your local area, utilizing preventive administrations, overseeing ailments, and understanding every one of your medications can add to a useful and significant life of an elder citizen. In this article, we'll focus on the healthy aging and the aged care quality standards. Positive risk-taking is a significant piece of empowering senior individuals to do the exercises they need to do.

Section 1

To take our own choices and approach our regular routines as per our own values and preferences is vital to our poise at whatever stage in life - including when we are older. Everybody has the option to this independence and autonomy. Yet, for some older individuals, the independence and freedom they appreciated before in their lives is denied in more seasoned age - regularly on the grounds that others figure they can presently don't settle on their own choices, or disregard them when they do. Older people are more experienced in their lives and know what is right or wrong for them. When they are supported to make their own decisions, they age in a healthy manner (Sowa et al., 2016).

The concept of healthy ageing is associated with the optimization of favourable opportunities for social, physical and mental health of old age people. This concept involves taking active part by the older people in the societies/ communities without any kind of discrimination so that they could enjoy independency and supreme quality of life (Cosco et al., 2017). As the principle states that older people should be given with the choice of living their own lives and making decisions depending upon their choices; therefore, it directly relates to the healthy ageing concept where they can be provided with equal opportunities of lowering down the risks that can be faced by them such as embracing interaction with other people and possessing high physical as well as the cognitive abilities (Rudnicka et al., 2020).

The principle also involves the crucial planning and delivery of the high quality care for the older people that can be ensured by healthy ageing concept that could lower down the risks of cancer, heart diseases and lung diseases. The concept of healthy ageing crucially supports the stated principle as it allows the older people to stay physically, socially and mentally active with their friends and communities by following a healthy and balanced diet and taking all the prescribed medications (Sowa et al., 2016). Social security is another major benefit of healthy ageing that is being provided to the old age person which is the greatest economic advantage that embraces equality.

Section 2

Standard 1

This standard is associated with making the independent choices and taking active part in communities which is important in enhancing the physical and mental well-being and social inclusion. All these components are involved in the principle and thereby support it because when older people exercise their own choices; they tend to make decisions independently (Cosco et al., 2017).

Standard 2

This standard believes that proper care and services should be described and planned by the organizations to meet the needs, preferences and goals of the consumers. In relation with the principle, older people might face some unfavourable challenges in terms of managing their health and abilities and they might struggle in living their life to the fullest. Such challenges can be managed through this standard as the older people might be provided with some of the major benefits such as planning and delivery of the healthcare (Rudnicka et al., 2020).

Section 3

While performing the role of nurse, the following roles and responsibilities or actions can be performed in providing care to older people by incorporating the ACQ standards:

Standard 1

  • While playing the role of a nurse, I will support the older people to exercise their choices and encourage them to live independently.

  • I will respect the privacy of older people and will not share any of their personal details with anyone regarding their mental health, physical health and other abilities (Nguyen et al., 2019).

  • I will develop a positive culture of inclusion so that the older people can share their problems and risks faced by them openly with me without any kind of fear.

  • I will ensure that all of them must be allowed for active participation in any of the programs organized by the societies/ communities (Jiménez et al., 2019).

  • I will be reviewing the outcomes of these actions and ensure continuous improvement within the lives of older people.

Standard 2

  • I would determine the challenges and risks that are being faced by the older people in terms of their mental and physical health.

  • I would be then planning for positively changing their health abilities by providing them with better health care services and minimizing the loss of their abilities (Nguyen et al., 2019).

  • I would maintain the documents for each old age individual such as the advance care planning, needs, health ageing services, etc.

  • I will get to know about their needs and goals and will optimize the services accordingly.

  • If any older person would not be able to visit the health care centre, then I will provide him/ her with home services by visiting the home personally (Jiménez et al., 2019).

Conclusion

It can be concluded that the healthy ageing concept directly relates with and supports the key principle of supporting older people to live their lives to the fullest extent and making independent choices and decisions. The ACQ standards have been discussed and studied with relation to the principle and some actions have also been provided to be performed as a nurse in respect to these standards.
