Cloud computing is the process of computing which is totally internet based and provides shared computer processing resources and data to computers and other devices on demand. In this term cloud refers to the internet so through this we can say that storing of data on internet is called cloud computing (Han and et. al., 2011). On demand network access to a shared pool of configuration computer resources like networks, servers, storage, application and services. All over the world we could see the impact of cloud computing on different organisation mainly in IT sector. It has brought new tools and new perspectives of evolution for the organisation that is using it.

Background of Research: In the today's era where internet has taken all over day to day activities as we almost use internet for all our work. So through this the idea came of cloud computing which is emerging as the future of internet. As the time will progress we will see that cloud will replace all the functions that were provided by the IT department in the company because cloud is offering a platform that is suitable for fast development distribution.

Background of the Company: We have chosen Apple for this scenario which is USA based world renowned IT company and is the largest information technology company in revenue. They pretty much know the importance of cloud computing so they are trying and working on this sector so that they could take care of cloud computing services. They are also deliberately engaged with other companies so that they take over all the market of cloud computing.

Research Aims and Objectives

(a) Aim:

To study the Advantages and Disadvantages of Cloud Computing.

(b) Objectives

  • To identify the advantages and disadvantages of Cloud Computing.
  • To determine the effectiveness of Cloud Computing that is adopted by Apple.
  • To recommend some of the strategies so that apple can gain competitive advantages.

Research Questions

  • What are the advantages and disadvantages of Cloud Computing?
  • What are the effectiveness of cloud computing that is adopted by apple?
  • How apple can gain competitive advantage by using different strategies?

Rational Study

  • What is the issue?

The issue is about how cloud computing is affecting the organisation and what are the disadvantages attached to it.

  • Why it is an issue?

It is an issue because it is considered as the future of internet and this is the solution of storage problem.

  • Why it is an issue now?

As the number of internet users has increased and almost everybody has access to the internet. The users are heavily depended upon the storage service which Apple provides.

  • What could the issue shed light upon?

Cloud computing disadvantages is increasing but still company is not taking preventive measures to reduce the risk attached to it (Fernando, Loke and Rahayu, 2013).

Significance of Research

Cloud computing is no doubt a useful thing and solution to a problem of storage as till few years back companies were depending upon the physical hardware so they had faced problem out memory shortage. Through this research we will be finding out the risks and disadvantages attached to the cloud computing.

Literature Review

Overview

Literature review purpose is to show people what the particular researcher have studied in the research. The research focuses on the various aspects of cloud computing defining the advantages and disadvantages of cloud computing (Agrawal, Das and El Abbadi, 2011).

What is Cloud Computing?

In the past years or decades IT industries has been working with hard drive and some people also argue that traditional storage method is far better than cloud computing. Apple provides “Icloud” to their users for data storage but still there are some areas where Apple has to work upon some factors which are affecting the expansion or popularity of cloud computing. This literature review will be highlighting the those factors which has loopholes and affecting the growth of cloud computing but before that we will also look at the points which encourages people to adopt cloud computing (Velte and et. al., 2010).

Advantages of Cloud Computing

According to Hofmann and Woods (2010) it has been analysed that cloud computing has become important tool of any business and it is also predicted from the surveys that every organisation in 21st century is using cloud computing technology which is might be the new technology but has came out with a new revolution in the data storage sector IT companies like Apple has faced issues for the data storage so such big companies needed that a technology or a concept which can solve their issue of data storage. Apple can change their software or can modify storage according to them at different time period, so the users attached with the Apple can try new technology or features which makes storage more flexible (Qureshi, Ahmad and Rafique, 2011). People who uses cloud computing can access their data anywhere they want as they only want a internet connection. Apple can reduce the size of their own data centres or can eliminate their data centres. Cost of the employees who are recruited for handling the operations of traditional data storage devices can be also be cut down. Cloud computing is much more cheaper than the local computing and empowers them to share their data to the person who are their business partner or the collaborating company.

Disadvantages of Cloud Computing

With every new technology there comes disadvantages of it, according to Subashini and Kavitha, (2011) it has been analysed that cloud computing is totally dependent upon internet connection which is the biggest blender of it. So we can say that without internet connection there is no use of cloud computing (Rittinghouse and Ransome, 2016). When internet is attached to anything than the privacy issue also comes in between as hackers can easily hack the data and can control it according to them. Cyber attacks has hit many companies so Apple has to make sure that their servers are safe enough and out of reach of the hackers. Although the cost of cloud computing is very less but there are areas which proves this statement wrong like if the client has been not provide with the feature he wanted so to modify or to add that feature they have to invest a large amount.

As state by Aljabre (2012) data transfer from a cloud computing is difficult because the companies which provide cloud computing services does normally allow one time data transfer or even don't allow. There is a confusion that who is the owner of data on cloud computing is it the person who has uploaded the data or the person who is providing the storage services.

Research Methodology

Under this categories of research proposal we provide guidance to researcher for making effective completion of research work. Through this section the researcher is able to identify way in which research project has to be conducted. The proposal of this research is based on advantages and disadvantages of cloud computing by using appropriated methods and techniques. From this researchers able to draw valuable conclusion from that proposal.

Moreover, the researcher need to decide best tools and techniques to evaluated best result from the effective manner. Under this a wide range of methodologies has been used to develop on part of investigator from daily business activity. According to demand of the research proposal suitable methodologies should be adopted that will help the researchers to make research more effective. The methods which are suitable for current scenario in our study to describe a mentioned under the cloud computing must create worth to the researches.

Research design:

The research design is give more emphasizes on identifying ways through which research work is conducted. The major research design used under this are: descriptive, exploratory, experimental. The descriptive is focused on providing detail description about facts and figures. The proposal are based on descriptive research design thus , it emphasizes on details analysis of advantages and disadvantages of cloud computing. it help to identify various detail analysis applied as they are associated with the research study.

Research approaches:

The research methodologies are based on conducting research work as representing various approaches adopted by the researchers in his study. There are two approaches like inductive and deductive approaches. Under deductive new theories is being implement and formulated to create hypothesis. While inductive approach on the other hand emphasis on observation of existing facts and figures.

Data collection method:

It is said to be most important elements of research proposal. The researchers has an option to accumulated various data and information that has been collected from various sources. Like, data collection from primary and secondary sources (Antonopoulos and Gillam, 2010). The primary sources are those which are collected for the first time in the fresh as new and fresh data. While secondary data is said to be present from past record like graphs ,pictures and statistical data.

Data analysis:

The research is based on in-depth study and evaluation of various research elements for successful research project. In order to conduct appropriate analysis, the researcher have two option: Qualitative and Quantitative analysis. The segregation of data collection into various subject that help to conduct proper analysis of wide range of data and information. The social system of relevant information into different forms is due to generate valuable results. likewise, the researcher has decided to adopt best suitable methods for purpose of conducting the research into consideration as per the need of researchers (Sangroya and et. al., 2010). Data are reported in the informant languages in qualitative while statistical analyses are reported under the quantitative methods.
